The calming of the sea is a fitting story in the midst of all the healings that take place in chapter 8. Just as Jesus had the power to calm the sea, He has the power to bring peace to lives that are filled with pain and suffering. He doesn't promise to heal every physical ailment in this life, but He does promise - and has the power - to give us eternal life where there will be no more suffering.
